A Founder’s Note: The Future of AI Is Not a Better Chatbot

I believe most people are underestimating where AI is headed.

Not because the models aren't capable.

But because we're still thinking about AI as a chatbot.

Most conversations about artificial intelligence focus on answers.

How fast can it respond?

How accurate is it?

Which model performs best?

Those are important questions.

But I think they're increasingly the wrong questions.

The more important question is:

Can AI help complete work across an entire business workflow?

That's where things get interesting.

A Real Example

Recently, I watched a plumber take a photo of a client's bathroom that needed remodeling.

Traditionally, the process would look something like this:

  • Inspect the site

  • Take notes

  • Return to the office

  • Research options

  • Develop recommendations

  • Calculate pricing

  • Create an estimate

  • Search for similar opportunities

  • Build marketing content

Hours of work.

Sometimes days.

And each step typically requires a different tool, different system, or different process.

The work becomes fragmented.

Information gets lost.

Context gets repeated.

Momentum slows down.

One Photo. One Conversation.

Instead, the plumber uploaded the photo into SCRUBgpt.

Visual Vee immediately analyzed the bathroom and identified remodeling considerations, likely project scope, and recommended next steps.

Then something important happened.

The workflow didn't stop.

Without re-explaining anything, the context transferred directly to Estimator Eva.

Estimator Eva generated pricing guidance and project estimation recommendations based on the remodeling scenario.

The plumber then asked:

"Can you find me similar customers?"

The workflow transferred again.

Connector Carlos identified relevant commercial and government opportunities that aligned with the type of work the plumber wanted to pursue.

Then another request:

"Create a LinkedIn post to attract more customers like this."

Brandie Blaze took over and generated marketing content tailored specifically to that type of remodeling project.

One photo.

One conversation.

Multiple business functions completed.

This Is the Shift Many People Are Missing

Most people still imagine AI as a single assistant answering questions.

But I believe the future looks very different.

The future is specialized AI agents working together.

Not competing.

Not operating in isolation.

Working together.

One agent analyzes.

Another estimates.

Another finds opportunities.

Another markets the business.

And the workflow continues without losing context.

That changes everything.

The Real Opportunity for Service Businesses

For plumbers, electricians, roofers, cleaners, HVAC technicians, landscapers, contractors, and other service professionals, the biggest challenge is rarely technical skill.

It's operational friction.

Time gets consumed by:

  • administration

  • estimates

  • follow-ups

  • marketing

  • lead generation

  • purchasing decisions

  • scheduling

Each task requires attention.

Each task competes with revenue-generating work.

Historically, operators have accepted this as part of running a business.

But AI creates another possibility.

Instead of managing disconnected tasks, businesses can begin operating through connected workflows.

The value is not simply getting an answer.

The value is what happens next.

Beyond Chat

I don't believe the next phase of AI will be defined by who has the smartest chatbot.

I believe it will be defined by who can help businesses complete more work with less friction.

Estimate the job.

Find the next job.

Market the business.

Source the supplies.

Coordinate the follow-up.

All without restarting the conversation.

All without switching tools.

All without losing context.

It's Already Happening

The most interesting part of this story is that it isn't a future prediction.

It's happening today.

We're already seeing service businesses use connected agent workflows to reduce friction, save time, and operate more efficiently.

The technology will continue to improve.

The models will continue to evolve.

But the bigger shift is already underway.

AI is moving beyond answers.

It's becoming workflow infrastructure.

And for service businesses, that may be where the greatest opportunity lies.

Watch the video below to see the workflow in action.
